Mentoring Towards College
Big Brothers Big Sisters has developed its first Mentoring Toward College Program, starting at Con Val Regional School District. The Agency will identify five adult mentors to match with five high school students that ConVal High School Guidance identifies. The matches will meet through the high school years, first to build relationships, then to help scope out career and education alternatives. The ConVal Community Scholarship Foundation (CVCSF), ConVal High School and Big Brothers Big Sisters are joining forces to identify students, give mentoring assistance, and provide financial scholarships to promising candidates to pursue education and job training beyond high school. This partnering relationship is intended to motivate students who were identified by the ConVal Guidance Department, as good candidates to continue their education, if mentoring and heighten financial expectations are appropriate. Each year, the scholarship program intention is to award two full scholarships to students attending NH Community Technical Colleges.
